No ICE Macan from Week 16 next year?

There seems to have been a real public backlash against EVs recently.

I happened across a Mini Electric ad on Facebook and was intrigued by the vitriol in the comments:

Thing is, whilst we all assume 2035 is set in stone and EVs ARE the way forward, we can still lobby for a change to e-fuel which makes perfect sense.
I'm absolutely convinced making carbon neutral petrol/diesel out of air and water, anywhere (deserts excepted) using free renewable electricity has to be the best way forward.

I think we covered this before, it’s not emissions free and unlike EV’s the emissions are released where they are driven, mostly cities.
That’s probably the sticking point I imagine

A lot of cities have rivers running through them. Site an e-fuel factory next to the river, water turbine generates electricity for the process. CO2 drawn out of the city air and new e-fuel distributed across the country. The city can still keep its ULEZ zone too.

The petrol internal combustion engine is marvellous technology, isn’t it? To think we can just squirt some commonly available liquid into our cars and travel at speed for hundreds of miles is amazing. And it’s so incredibly cheap if you consider the cost of petrol rather than the egregious taxes our government extorts. It’s not really surprising that mankind has so far failed to surpass a wonder such as this.

The most promising next technology I’ve seen is the flux capacitor, developed by Dr. Emmett Lathrop Brown and originally conceived in the 1950s. Although the DeLorean with the prorotype fitted was rather slow to accelerate to 88mph, I still feel this technology has great promise.

…not entirely sure you are thinking this through…

Perhaps not, but Zero Petroleum seem to be. I wish them all the best, and others dedicated to petrol/diesel from thin air (just add water).

I can't find the post now, but I thought I saw a suggestion that in view of the delays to the Macan EV there might now be a refresh to the Macan ICE in 2024.
Mine's on order for April/May 2024 and I wouldn't want to miss out on anything!
Any advice please?

This thread, page 15, 5th November, as under...

Just read on Autocar the following line in an article on the new cars coming out next year, and especially the Macan EV - 'The petrol Macan will remain on sale alongside the EV, but is expected to receive a significant overhaul to bring it up to date.'

I wonder where they got news of the overhaul from, as it's the first I've heard. I don't believe it for a minute, just that it's a strange thing to say in a magazine which claims to know a thing or two about what's happening in the car industry.
