When would you use “full load” tyre pressures? (boring Friday chat)

Hey,

Loading up to drive from London to the Lake District tomorrow, nice 6 hours behind the wheel.

Taking 2 x people
2 x mountain bikes
1 x tow mounted bike carrier
Gear and clothes for 5 days of cycling and walking for two

Initially I thought that would be full load so did the 37/40psi the tyre label suggests, but noticed that the label says if the car is loaded over 260kgs - which feels quite an extreme weight.

I don’t think we’ll be 260kgs by a long shot.

What would Jesus do? Or failing that, members of the Macan forum?

Personally, I’d just keep the tyres at the ‘normal’ pressures.

Yep same. It's the large walking sacks of sea-water that make up most of the weight when you transport a car-load of people and their stuff, so for only two of them then normal is fine.

I keep mine halfway between the two advised settings i.e +1 bar above low load, -1 from full load

Thanks all - I’ll reduce them back down to normal weight, maybe leave 1/2 psi over for good luck.

Cheers!

We're going to the lakes tomorrow as well. But straight across the Pennines.

The car will be packed to the rafters, but I never bother changing tyre pressure.

I meant 0.1 bar

A point to note is that for my use it appears to produce even tyre wear across the threads
