oldpilot wrote: Mon Jul 31, 2023 5:22 pm During a regular service at my local OPC (Tonbridge), I received a phone call saying everything was good, but the rear wiper needed replacing and could they do it for me. Just before I said "yes", I asked "how much" and the answer was a staggering £68 - so I said "no" and picked up a Bosch one for just over ten quid.
I am absolutely speechless - what do the rest of you think?

1. It probably didn’t need replacing.
2. Inclusive of hefty Porsche tax, to help to pay their army of staff and to recover the cost of their multi-million pound premises. Not to mention coffee & pastries.

or to cover the cost of financing unsold Taycans

Consider yourselves lucky.

Those of us with early Macan Gen 1 had a standard wiper that was dire, it squeaked and juddered badly, solution was to fit a replacement Bosch that we paid for ourselves.

Problem solved, did Porsche do anything about the problem? If you are expecting a big No then you are correct.

This thread solved our issue

My fronts are okay, which of course I’d expect on an 8 month old car, but my rear was all split after just 6 months and I’ve only done 2200 miles even now.

Tip to alleviate squeaky or juddering wiper blades is to squirt a little WD40 on a cloth and apply to the wiper blade

And on the hinge on mine, seizes up after a while unless oiled every six months.

Prices charged by OPC's for servicing will never cease to make me chuckle every time I see a post on the matter. Good for you in saying No, far too many people are just accepting these silly prices and they will keep charging it whilst people are prepared (IMO foolish enough) to pay it.

You will never find me in an OPC having any service work done. By the time i sell my Macan on 80K miles plus, non OPC service history will not make a jot of difference to the car's value and I would have saved thousands. About to save my first £350 on the first oil change due using, of course, genuine parts and oils. :D :D

Agreed, although I might still take my 911 to the OPC for the MOT, as legally there is a maximum that they can charge! :P

Bought a replacement rear blade 18 months in from Tewkesbury and they fitted for free. It’s a 30 second job.

£68…. Someone’s having a laugh!!

But many places do MOTs at a discount. That will not be the case at an OPC.
