Laughing at the comment about only having base and treble showing how low rent the stereo is.
Best not to invest in some decent HiFi gear then as you don't even get that.

The purer the signal path, the closer to Heaven, for the audiophile.

I definitely don’t think there is a one size fits all answer for the stereo as we all have different tastes in what we listen to and how we think it should sound, and experience of previous systems. I’d like to hear the axminster (? ) to see what it sounds like.

Its interesting that it seems Bose is standard in the S in Aus, and only the base Macan comes with the base stereo.

I don't think there's much of an argument as to whether or not a premium car should have a "Specialist" audio system. The more important point is whether or not the extra £800+ is VFM

Agreed, and to honest I can’t really comment on the BOSE or the Axminster ( someone please remind me what its actually called ), I can only comment on the base one because that’s the one I bought, and I find it a tad underwhelming.

Correctamundo.. But what an easy way to make more beans.. Bit like wine snobbery where only a few can tell the difference between plonk and nectar

Unfortunately, price is no guide for perceived sound quality. I had an HK system in my BM which was truly excellent but then had a Meridean system in the Jag which was only OK and I regretted paying for.
The thing is, you can have standard and because you are expecting that it will be OK, you are not disappointed when it is just that - you didn’t pay extra and it matched your expectations.
Then you go and pay a lot of money for an upgrade (as I did in the Jag) and my expectations are higher but it fails to live up to them!
Tricky stuff all this subjective opinion…
