Just over 3 weeks into ownership and thought I'd share my experience/opinion on the standard sound system in the "S".

I'm very impressed with it! :-)

For the sake of context, my car has pano roof and the insulated/laminated windows.

I've been quite a "Hi-Fi buff" in my time and still enjoy listening (and playing) immensely.

For piano/double bass/acoustic guitar etc I really can't fault it :-)

It may of course depend on your musical taste and the type of sound you prefer/expect.
It may be that the laminated glass has an impact by reducing background noise?

I've seen some criticism of the base system in other comments so thought I'd offer this view for balance.

I really would suggest spending a little time listening before making up your minds on the system - don't assume that the base system won't be good enough - you may be pleasantly surprised! :-)

Agree. I couldn't justify spending £800 on Bose, let alone over £3000 on Burmester!

Hi Porshemack - no I didn't compare it with the other options.
I'm not suggesting that it is superior to the alternatives - just that it is superb in its own right.

I actually use BOSE at home and am very happy with it, by the way :-)

OK thanks. I was curious as have optioned the Bose. Hope it's better than the Standard system for over £800 🤞

Perhaps for you it will be better? :-)
I think "sound quality" is such a very subjective and personal thing that it's really worth hearing the comparison if possible before you spend the extra?
- on the other hand, I'm sure you won't be disappointed with BOSE - just that you may be £800 lighter than you need to be? :D

A lot of perception on the sound system is based on comparing showroom cars - somewhat pointless given that the speakers need to be 'run-in' for tens of hours for them to get to normal audio quality. You really need to compare on lightly used or demo cars with at least a few thousand miles recorded, to get past the audio break in period.

The standard system won;t blow your ear lugs off, but its not that bad audio wise - Bose sounds different, but not necessarily better.

I'm actually over £77k lighter than I need to be so £800+ doesn't seem too bad 😢
