Engine Picture
When it comes to that time, Neil, I will open it againNeil1911 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 9:54 am My car tends to use washer fluid and oil with use but it had done 4k+ miles in the first two months. Rather than take it to the OPC Bazza I top them up myself which always requires opening the bonnet . FYI, washer, blue, top right in your pic, oil, black, just forward and right of the middle. In case you get the urge!
And while it was open, I did give certain areas a clean, so it wasn't a quick open and shut job.
When I had my SD, opening the bonnet caused an issue with the sensors, it was 50/50 whether I would get a warning to say the bonnet was open.
It wasn't, but the sensors thought different.

That did cross my mind.Wing Commander wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 9:16 am ...and indeed, there’s very little of the actual engine on display any more!
Some great work by the plastics moulding industry though!
Somewhat disappointing for a manufacturer with such a prestigious history.

Does that make a big difference to the performance of the car?

Apparently red is lighter than black

Yes. For the reasons quoted by Bazz above, it was the only way with an SD to be reasonably sure that the sensors would agree that the bonnet was shut. I've not got out of the habit with the GTS.

Could that be part of the body alignment problems reported ?
Also, the air intake is ducted through the bonnet which could possibly cause a localised heat differential across the bonnet.
