With a brand new car you are probably right.

We had a similar repair with a nearly new Audi. The Audi estimate was nearly £2,000 for a very minor scratch.

I agree with Tracky here. I'd give the cheap option a go first then if not happy the second, but reckon the first would probably be fine!!!

I thought I would give you guys an update following the minor damage I caused to the rear of my Macan.
I thought and had hoped today would be the end of the matter, but it appears not.

The car went in 2 weeks ago for what was supposed to be a 3-day job.
However, the body shop were sent the wrong diffuser, and due to delays in receiving the correct one, they decided to repair the original instead.

They've done a fantastic job repairing it, but they've sprayed it a different colour.
As you can see from the pictures, the rear is a glossy black, whereas before, as per the front of the vehicle, it was matt.

I now have a dilemma, and my options are:

1) Keep as it is (it has been £400 cheaper to repair the diffuser rather than replace)
2) Have the diffuser replaced and looking as the original
3) Have the front end painted the same colour as the rear

I've discounted option 1). It's just not right to have the front and rear not matching.
If I go for 3), would the side blades, which are the same colour as the front end, look at odds and, if so, will they need painting as well?

The whole thing has taken so much more time than I anticipated.

Why not ask the paint shop to put a matt finish on the rear to match the front? It's fairly obvious that it is what they should have done in the first place???

Personally I think it should have been gloss black all along as it makes it look much better. Also matches gloss of rear roof spoiler, roof rails, door handles (if you have them) etc.
So, yes gloss up the front. Re blades, you already have gloss black window surrounds and door handles on the side profile with (satin?) blades so why change anything here.
Front definitely would look great in gloss

Gloss all round gets my vote. Good to be a bit different and it'll clean easier.

Keep it as OE and get the rear done correctly in matt.

Agree with SAC1
