Being in the process of selling my Macan, I thought I would put its spec into the current configurator. It isn't quite like-for-like as there is now no SD and various things have changed. However the SD was the same price as the S when I bought it in 2017, so I have done it with that. Although the base price has gone up from about £46k to £54k (17%) there are a lot more things included than there were in 2017 - such as bigger wheels, better lights, better tech, satnav. There is therefore much less in options to add to get a similar spec car. I spent £55k and would now have to spend £59k - but that would also include things that I don't have such as LED lights (these were about £800 more than my Xenons) and car play (would have cost another £800). So if that is factored in, the car would have gone up from £56800 to £59000 - only a 3.8% rise over 5 years, which is much less than 1%.

Given that we have had inflation running at between 2-4%, Brexit and a global pandemic, I don't think this is at all bad. Prices will inevitably rise, but it seems that Porsche have offset this by including more with the car (many of these things should have been included from the outset) which presumably reduces overall production costs.

Anyway, I thought this might be of interest - and if prices go up between placing your order and it being built, it does seem that Porsche are being reasonable with the rises and including extra things as they do it.

And it will be interesting to see what they are worth when they finally, excuse the pun, pull the plug on new ICE vehicles?!!?!?!

Not sure if Porsche are getting forced to include many extras into the "basis car" to compete with other manufacturers.

They are. Almost all cars have enjoyed greatly improved standard specs in the last few years.

That's probably more to do with Used car buoyancy than diesel desirability.

The diesel prices had already firmed up before the used car shortage due to folk wanting a diesel to do high miles or pull caravans etc. Just look on this forum over the last couple of years with new members posting that they are looking for a diesel.
