Just had email to say the update was unsuccessful and to take the car to Porsche. As i suspected if you've lost connection already, they cant get the update to you. Oh well, need to book in for a reset no. 3!

Following the above, I confirm the privacy was off.PMS888 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 9:31 pm The car comes with an internal sim which you cannot access.
The Connect services allows you to access the Porsche apps and do online searches e.g nearest restaurants, petrol stations, weather forecast etc. The data should be unlimited for Porsche services.
You can buy data packages from Porsche Vodafone to use the car as a. wireless hotspot, access Amazon music etc. These packages are very expensive and you are better off using your mobile phone’s data and use your phone’s wireless hotspot to link devices (iPads if you got kids).
Do a few checks first.
Make sure you privacy mode is set to OFF and not active.
Click devices and click on the data icon and make sure it says ‘connected’.
Test it by trying the Porsche apps on the PCM e.g weather forecast.
Does it work?
The Data icon shows a green SIM icon for the internal SIM, and I can access services such as weather.
However, I cannot see or workout how I connect my phone as a hotspot to enable me to use the online services.
Here are some images of what I'm seeing:

What online services are you hoping to use?
If you’re wanting Amazon music you can use it through Apple Car play (providing you have an Amazon music subscription).

I’m trying to use internet radio stations. That was what I tried to access when I first discovered the message directing me to purchase a data package.
I also want to establish whether others with GEN3 Macans have this as part of their package. If it’s the same for others, then I know it’s not an included service.
Two different dealers are unable to confirm either way!

I did this but the memory has faded.... try sitting in the car, ignition on and then on your phone, scan for wifi networks, select the car's and connect. See what happens then, there must be a passcode but I can't recall if that was displayed on the PCM. Sounds convincing to me but no guarantees offered!

I did something similar earlier on and my phone did pick up on the cars Wi-Fi, but it didn’t give me the option to enter a passcode.Neil1911 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 14, 2021 9:57 pmI did this but the memory has faded.... try sitting in the car, ignition on and then on your phone, scan for wifi networks, select the car's and connect. When I had a GEN2 it worked fine, although it also had the ability to add an external SIM.
I’m just wondering whether this is a GEN3 issue.
I’ll try again tomorrow.
Thanks for the replies and suggestions.

I’ve done some exploring. The radio plus feature does work but you need to tether your phone. Just logged in to my Porsche connect store account online and saw this message. It will explain why it’s different to the earlier generations. See picture.
Alternatively I have an app I’ve downloaded onto my iPhone called ‘TuneIn Radio’ which gives you access to all the online radio stations. I can access this app through the apple CarPlay and choose the radio station.
