Madelvic wrote: Sat Dec 04, 2021 8:47 pm I think you are referring to Porsche Entry and Drive.

In my Gen 1, the key is needed to open the car and the key is inserted where the dummy key is on cars with Entry and Drive. The key is turned to start the car
No this is comfort access
I don’t have Entry and drive
Same thing isn’t it ?
yes the Configatrator info for comfort access now says -

"Keyless entry and drive: vehicle transmitter, system of interior and exterior aerials, proximity sensors, sensors in the exterior door handles and double closing button for the automatic tailgate

Note: The Comfort Access uses state of the art technology. However, it cannot be completely ruled out that the key´s wireless encryption code is intercepted and used to open or steal the vehicle
£ 455.00"

The confusion is caused by the "Comfort" entry function which as described by the Good to Know app is when under the memory seats function the seat moves back as you open the door or forward to the memory position when you put the key in

Thank you, might end up speccing comfort now as putting a key in the dash every drive seems a bit archaic now 😂
Security apart, with all "keyless" systems is you are carrying around a "key" or fob all the time. With a traditional key started car there is a convenient storage location for that key in the dashboard. You just have to remember to remove it from its storage location when you leave the car.

Which, being in hand, is easier than remembering to take the keys out of the cup holder before getting out.

I've ended up sticking it on, liked it on our last Macan and I'm too used to it now as our BMW is the same. Luckily I don't live in a part of the UK with bad car crime.

My other car has keyless start so the key can go anywhere. Due to the hopeless design of the fob it can't go in the pocket and it's easily forgotten where I've put it. I specced my Gen 2 Macan without keyless entry (Comfort Access) and much prefer knowing exactly where the key is - in the slot by the steering column.

I guess privately its very unlikely to happen but a couple of times I've known colleagues drive off in cars that had the engine running but they weren't in possession of the keys, thinking that they were! Not embarrassing at all trying to find the previous driver when they're on their way home!!!
