Can anyone please help? I have just put the Macan in to change to winter wheels (19” turbo set) and one of the tyres has a puncture. The Porsche dealer has said they are unable to source a matching replacement tyre for this set, nor can they find a suitable new matching 4 set anywhere.
They are talking about availability in Jan next year. The winter wheel set cost £2500 and have only been on the car twice! Has anyone else had this problem? The car on its current set of 21inch sports/summer tyres will be completely unusable for months now...no thaw up in Newcastle until at least April now! What should I be asking for?

Which area of the tread is the puncture? Edge or centre? Is it a nail or screw penetration?

Have you consulted a tyre specialist like ATS Euromater, Kwik Fit, NTA etc?

What make and pattern 19" winter tyres do you have the puncture in?

I think winter tyres might be preferable, but not having them doesn’t make the car “unusable” surely?

If the puncture is in a repairable location on the tyre, and the OPC won’t repair it, take it to a mainstream reputable repairer who will. There is no legal or safety reason why a tyre may not be repaired to British Standard, if it meets the criteria for repair, it’s only A recommendation by Porsche that tyres with punctures are replaced. If it has to be replaced because it is not repairable go online to Black Circles or My Tyres to see if you can get a direct replacement.

You could try mytyres or Camskill to see what they can source.

The puncture is a nail in the centre of the tyre, the dealer has said if I have it repaired or go anywhere else for the tyre or have it repaired, then it is not porsche approved and will invalidate my warranty. Sorry yes the car won’t be completely unusable I had a bad experience as a female when the roads were fine going to work but coming home in the dark the tyres just wouldn’t grip at all on slippy roads, even going into manual and keeping it in low gear it did not feel like a ‘safe’ drive!
The dealer has escalated the issue to Porsche but did not sound hopeful of a solution...should I be asking for a refund of my £2500 to put towards buying a whole new set of winter wheels...which of course I am sure will be available!??

From recollection the options back at that time were Dunlop WinterSport 4D and Pirelli Scorpions

For front axle mytyres offer both in N0 rating ... https://www.mytyres.co.uk/search?sortCo ... eTypes=OFF

For rear axle 255/50/19 then mytyres show matching stock in both options... https://www.mytyres.co.uk/search?sortCo ... eTypes=OFF

If neither of these is correct then let us know, we may be able to help.

Your Porsche warranty is fine for 9 months running on summer tyres, but suddenly invalid when they can't source a winter tyre. Put the summer wheels back on before any warranty visit , and make sure you have Porsche wiper blades all round and a Porsche battery.

Alternatively you could buy another set of wheels /tyres from ebay - some 18" sets around for under £700 which would keep you mobile and with warranty !

Thanks so much for the replies guys, I’m sorry I don’t know the exact tyre type. I purchased them in October 2018 and it was just called a 19” Macan Turbo winter wheel and tyre set. Yes I think if they can’t get these ones sorted out I will just have to buy a new set...hadn’t considered eBay, always go the conventional (expensive) route for peace of mind but in this case it might be the best option!

I had a similar issue with replacing a Continental winer tyre on a BMW that picked up a nail fortunately at the end of winter in mid March. So fortunately the solution was to put the summer set on

Basically the manufacture make winter tyres once a year about August for the coming winter and once the year's production has been sold that is it with nothing held back to sell for those who pick up punctures. I do find this totally irresponsible.

Fortunately I could afford to wait to buy a replacement in September when the next year's production came available.
