My 70 plate Macan S flagged up the requirement for an oil change after 1 year and just over 2000 miles. It caught me by surprise as my previous Macan was on a 2 year service cycle. I rang Porsche in Cardiff to book it in for the oil change and was even more surprised by the price £518.................for just an oil change!!! They brought the price down to £460 after I moaned about the price but is it just me or do people think that's ludicrous! My 66 plate Macan seemed far more reasonable in terms of servicing costs. I know the price of oil has gone up but that seems really expensive. Has anyone else been quoted similar?

Covered loads of times on here

It only needs an oil service not a full service so shouldn’t be that expensive

Welcome to our friendly forum. :)

Even the reduced price does seem a bit steep compared to what I and others have paid for a simple oil change.

Some folks supply their own oil. That should save you a few more quid, so long as it’s the correct Porsche-approved oil...

After 15k miles and 16 months I was charged £413. That was cheaper than one other OPC and one other didn't reply to my enquiry.

Thanks for the replies. I don't mind having it done but the cost shocked me a little. £250 sounds reasonable but Porsche in Cardiff are double that and the franchise is held by Dick Lovett who has all of South Wales and the South West tied up so no real alternative.

I would be more concerned about how you are using the car. If you are getting a call for an oil change after only 2000 miles, the car is not reaching full operating temperature after many cold starts. Get better value for the oil change cost by taking the Macan for nice long drives, say through the Brecons or onto the roads of Mid wales ;) ;)

I did check that and with the latest Macans there is a scheduled oil service service after 1 year. It's the first question I asked. Porsche Cardiff told me that's on all post 2019 cars and not just Macans. I've had the Macan from new for just over a year so it wasn't related to mileage but age.

I’ve heard all sorts of variations on this. My SE said its still every 2 years or 20,000 miles. Others have said that as it ( the S ) now has the Audi engine it has variable servicing like a modern car. Not sure what the actual facts are.

If someone has a Gen 3 can they check if it says anything in the paperwork?

^^^ not so! My Gen2 GTS was built early March 2020 and delivered at the end of that month to my OPC. As a result of Covid-19, I did not take delivery until 1 June 2020.

Here is the current situation regarding the first oil change:

So pretty much in line with the first service when it will be 2yrs old.

I avoid short trips and always ensure that the oil is up to the optimum working temperature.

My April 2019 S behaviour regarding oil changes is consistent with Steves predicting basically 2 years and approx 20K, and with lockdown, it had 1st service at 2years inc oil change at 14000 in late 3/21and is predicting next at 33000 and 3/23. no comment made by Portsmouth OPC
