Likewise. Got a quote from admiral as well but it was about 30-40% higher.

I’d also suggest checking your insurers new car replacement policy as some insurers provide a much better option than others.

Hope this is the reason I was quoted so high, as only admiral companies were quoting via compare the meerkat

2023 718 Spyder order cancelled

Its new car replacement for write off or theft if unrecovered for the first 12 months.
That's quite standard from what I understand, except for NFU who provide 2yrs, but their excess is much, much higher, and they quoted me more than 3 times LV.

I did, Dan, after seeing your invite here previously.
You were more than double than LV, and I consider myself low risk, low crime rate area, full NCB and no claims / convictions.
It would be interesting to understand why there can be such vast differences in quotes between insurers, unless they specifically don't want to insure specialist / performance vehicles.

Yep, so far the only ones showing up on line with Gen 3 are Admiral, and even then only through compare the meerkat

Re LV - If it's GEN2, so be it.
They quoted based on telling them it's a GEN3, they spoke with their underwriters, and proceeded to quote.
If it's ever contended, they can refer to their audio recordings, and mine!

Hi There,

Thanks for the message and if you wished to message me your full name / postcode I can take a look at our quotation and why we haven't been competitive on this occasion?

Regards,

Dan

I'd also suggest you double check with the actual insurer their stance on factory optional extras - despite comparison sites suggesting they aren't modifications, when you get through to the actual companies their quotes are often for a standard uk spec car, and some even count optional extras fitted during build as modifications as the vehicle is more desirable to theft/higher value. Given most builds shown on here typically have £10k of extras you don;t want to invalidate insurance or end up with a total loss standard spec replacement or std spec market value pay out
