Don't delude yourselves. Check your policies. I used to think manufacturers spec wasn't a mod. But the advent of computerised quoting means what was too much hassle to do with manual underwriting in the past is now easy.

I'm with Churchill for my Gen3 S. Their website asks for options, but not all options are available to tick on their website! So I called and they made note of every factory fitted option I have on my car.

Apparently this comes in handy when there is a claim, not that any of us ever want to find out that way though.

If the company asks for every factory fitted option I’d go elsewhere. They legitimately ask if a car has been ‘modified’, which usually it hasn’t. You are insuring the car for the quoted value at purchase.

Think you need a registration number to get started with a quote 🤔

Just tried LV and they don't want to know.

Are factory fitted options classed as changes to my car?
No, factory fitted options aren't classed as changes to manufacturer's standard specification. A change to manufacturer's standard specification is anything made after the car leaves the factory.

So it seems that you definitely have to know each company's policy. One size does not fit all.

Registration number not needed to obtain a quote, only if you want to go the whole hog and purchase.

Couldn't get going on their site without one.
How do I get around this?

Just put any old reg in eg aa22abc. It won't find it and will give you the option to select the car. Problem I have is it crashed half way through I will try again tomorrow.
Also it doesn't treat options as mods. 👍
