Macan 'T'

Just taking out the electrically adjusted seats ( bung in carbon fibre bucket seats), the sunroof and all the leather would probably make it quite a bit lighter. Possibly add carbon fibre bonnet and wheels etc.

But the bigger question would be why the hell would you bother? The Macan is a luxury SUV, making all those changes would give you the worst of both worlds IMO.

Guessing same reason as they've done it for all the other models. Plus, what other brand has a lightweight performance SUV? I can't think of one of the top of my head.

You can already spec a base Macan without leather or a sunroof and with basic seats (not 14 or 18-way). And carbon fibre bonnet & wheels would be super-expensive and not fit with the ethos of a T model. ;)

The ‘T’ sports cars in the Porsche range are all built around the base engine (so the 2.0 in the case of the Macan) and they fit in price between the base model and the S. So a Macan with the S engine (but quicker and more costly) would not match the thinking of the other T models... ;)

The 911 T had the option of no rear seats, no PCM and lightweight glass in the rear. Can’t see that happening with the Macan... But we’ll see... :geek:

But if you were at the present time developing a lightweight performance SUV, you would not start from the current Macan whose weight base is 1st Q5 with none of the weight loss developments of the two subsequent generations of Q5.

I see any Macan T as just a marketing gimmick, a bit light the GTS ( ;) ;) ;) ;) ) . Unfortunately for Porsche by the time you made the two obvious handling improvements to the base, adding PASM and say 20 wheels, the price gap between Base and S of £5520 at list cost for T to S would be about £2000. I cannot see many takers for a T over an S even with a few styling changes and a bit of a giveaway like lowered suspension thrown in.

Like I say, we’ll see... But it would require a significant change in direction of the T ethos at Porsche... ;)

I suppose you could take rear seats out, weld the rear doors shut, lower it loads, reduce roof line, take out the front diff then sell it like that or in fact something like a cayman T 😂

What they could do is slot in the Golf R engine - 235 kw (316 hp) and 420 NM torque and add a few bling things ( 20”) wheels, sports chrono and price it half way bewteen the base and the S and voila a desirable T. With the new S engine the performance gap between the base and S has grown a bit to warrant another version in between. Keep in mind the S is 85 kgs heavier than the base so a T could be a lively performer without outperforming an S.
