What's the groups thoughts on roof rails?
I had them on my previous Macan and have specified them on my new build, but I saw one of the members config which showed the vehicle without them and it looked quite slick.

Despite having them previously, I never actually used them, but I wondered how popular they are when coming to sell.

Can they be retro fitted and, I assume, they are necessary for the roof top boxes?

I didn't spec them.

I have had them on several car that they came with for free and never used them so couldn't see the point in paying extra.

Since then I have seen a Taycan in a porsche showroom with roof bars that didn't need rails and was informed they would fit on a 'roof rail-less' macan.

Hope that helps

I only get them because I have a roof box to store extra stuff when we travel
Otherwise what’s the point in having them!

OPC would say No ⁉️although I’m sure a specialist body shop would consider. It would require drilling multiple holes in the roof, ensuring a good seal and removing/refitting headlining. So very expensive indeed.

When specing our Gen 1 we were advised roof rails could not be retrofitted

I would spec them purely because it'd be such a nightmare to add afterwards.

We've had them on both our Macans because we use a roof rack and roof box for holidays but wouldn't spec them otherwise

I've specced them just because I find they help me reach the centre of the roof when washing the car :-)
