It had one year of the standard three year warranty to go and then was covered by the two year Porsche Used car warranty. Bought my 'S' from Chester in April. Asked if the same deal applied and was told categorically not. Just the two years Used Car warranty. On inspection, I have a one year Used Car warranty which begins in June 2022 when the 3 year one runs out. Sharp practice I fear. I have challenged them and they say it is normal practice.
Maybe it's just the actual OPC that is wrong and doesn't understand.
When I bought my GTS in October, the 3 year warranty ran out end November , which is when the 2 year used car extended warranty ran from/to.
This ties in to your earlier SD purchase.
Very interesting. I have contacted Porsche at the Porsche Customer Interaction Centre (posh name for Customer services) and they were evasive and suggested contacting the OPC which I had done hence contacting them. I will now contact the DP at Chester to see if I can get the extra year. Watch this space.

It will be good to hear how you get on with this.

As I said previously in this post, my macan had just over 2 years of its 3 year manufacturer's warranty left when I bought it. OPC said this would be the only warranty I'd get and I wouldn't get the 2 years for used cars added after the 3 year one was up.

^^^^^ Exactly the same for my 10 month old Macan when I bought it from an OPC.

There are plenty of 3rd party warranties if you really want to hedge your bets. They’re usually a lot cheaper too. You just have to choose a reputable (ish) one.

The problem with most 3rd party warranties is the labour rate, which is far less than either an OPC or specialist Porsche garage charges.

My point is that the OPC, as all OPC's do, advertise 'A minimum of two years used car warranty' and I have one year plus one year of the new car warranty. They should not be advertising a minimum of two years when it isn't. At Bolton, they gave me the remaining year of the new car warranty plus the two years used car warranty. Chester claimed it was a ploy to get my business except I was told about it when I picked the car up. Porsche UK are hopeless, they don't even know their own policy.

Contacted the DP and Sales Manager at Chester via email one week ago and ,to date, have not had the courtesy of a reply. Therefore, they can whistle and I'll try one of the Car Mags and also take my business elsewhere, back to Bolton I reckon.

The two year warranty policy on used cars is definitely inclusive of any unexpired new warranty remaining on the vehicle. i.e. it is not two years added to the end of the new car warranty period. Otherwise, if you bought a one month old car, you would be getting warranty until the car was nearly 5 years old which would be a costly add on for the stealer. I think the fact they say "a minimum two year warranty" is confusing. Indeed, it will only ever be more than two years when you purchase a used car which is under one year old and therefore still has more than two years remaining of the original new car warranty anyway. Effectively no additional used warranty under these circumstances is being given at all, and therefore it is cheeky and misleading of the stealers to suggest the used warranty is a MINIMUM two years - the USED warranty is in fact a MAXIMUM of two years.

I think the poster who got the one year added to the end of the new car period, resulting in more than two years warranty from date of purchase, had a result! This was either a stealer cock up at the outset or, as mentioned, a goodwill gesture at point of sale. My guess is probably the former but using the latter to cover up their mistake.

I agree, think OP receiving additional years over the standard two got a result. If the car was already a year old the OPC could have included a warranty extension and they would have to pay Porsche GB for that. It doesn’t make any difference whether it’s the original manufacturer warranty or the used extension. The car purchased is used and you get a two year minimum warranty, as it could be a “used car” at one month then you’ll have 2 year 11 month, not 4 and 11. 🙄
