USA comparison - the GTS exhaust note can be heard here too:
Exhaust noise... please help!
Hi, what age cars are the filters built in that tone the exhaust noise down? Is it from the facelift with the light strip or do some Gen 1 also have these exhaust filters?

I actually sold my gen 2 s with pse for a gen 1 facelift S because of the exhaust sound.
I didn’t want to go aftermarket because that could lead to issues with warranty. Not a single day regret.
The gen 2 even with pse sounds dissapointing. I gave it 20.000 km because I heard the sound would improve and honestly it did a little bit but not enough for me. Its missing the heavy grow

What’s the date of the facelift gen 1 from?

I agree with MikeM; comparing Porsche SUV's with 911s and Boxsters is a bit apples and oranges. but there's no disputing, in my mind, that the noise the Gen 1 GTS makes is as good as it gets for a Macan. I think any of the latest cars with a Gasoline Particulate Filter sound very muted.MikeM wrote: ↑Sat Jan 30, 2021 8:52 am If you looking for Pre Turbo Carrera or Boxster exhaust notes from any Macan your going to be sorely disappointed whatever configuration. The best exhaust note you’ll get would be with the gen1 GTS. Still miles away from any Porsche sports car model, especially past but also present.
The facelift Gen 1 GTS models start from early 2017, I think.
Thanks, yes I’m not expecting it to sound like a sports car but I’m intrigued to find out. I’m waiting to take delivery of a Gen 1 S petrol with PSE. If it’s as good as the 340i it replaces then I’ll be happy. At the end of the day I need a SUV so no choice but to get one and I’m hoping this is as good as they come.

Not all cars are ruined by the GPF but it hasn't helped I agreeCounter Of Beans wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 10:11 amI agree with MikeM; comparing Porsche SUV's with 911s and Boxsters is a bit apples and oranges. but there's no disputing, in my mind, that the noise the Gen 1 GTS makes is as good as it gets for a Macan. Spec’d pse on 2019 Macan S, and 10k miles now. Pretty disappointed if I’m honest. Had a 2020 GTS as a loaner for the day and sounded way better, kinda in line with what I thought I was getting.
If it’s noise you’re after then IMHO the extra on pse on the Macan S isn’t worth it.
If you’re anywhere near Swindon to Bristol area then welcome to have a listen!

Completed just 1500 miles in my 2021MY GTS and finding I’m using the PSE a lot as it’s actually much better than my previous Gen1 Turbo. It doesn’t have the great “Thump!” that the Turbo had when you hit the throttle hard, but a very pleasant tone with burble on acceleration and crackle/ muted pops on downshifts. Still no 911, but you can’t get a full set of wheels, 10 bags of builders rubbish or an old kitchen sink in a 911 either
