Hi guys,

Currently looking to buy a Macan as our daily family car. I was set on a gen 1 GTS or Turbo performance but around the same price have noticed gen 2 Macan S’s.

Now I absolutely love the gen 1 GTS exhaust sound and it’s a big factor in the purchase. Turbo performance sounds really nice too.

Has anyone moved from either of these to a Macan S Gen2? How does the sports exhaust sound on these? I would appreciate a video of the sound if anyone has one and doesn’t mind doing it :D

Had a look at YouTube vids etc and they sound pretty good to be fair.....

It was a long time since I had driven a GEN 1 with PSE to when we got Mrs' Gen 2 S with PSE so can't really comment

If I'm honest I was a bit disappointed to start with but it got better with time as exhausts can do

Can't help more than that I'm afraid

When the facelift cars first came out the general view seemed to be that all models, including those with PSE, were more muted. They’re different engines and exhausts but the GPF was felt to be the main factor. Others have also said they believe the note to improve over time.

I had a loan 20 reg GTS for 12 weeks during the first lockdown, which had a switchable sports exhaust on it, I was very disappointed with it, sound was poor, I certainly would have been very disappointed had I owned the car. I should in fairness point out that the car only had 200 miles on it when picked up. Some owners report a big improvement over time. However I think my 2017 Macan S without a sports exhaust sounds better.

Macan S without PSE sounding better, from your point of view, is definitely not promising!

I think it will be a Gen1 GTS or Turbo PP if I can find the right car + spec.

Yes my preference was for Gen 1 over gen 2 due to sound from what I have heard people say. Plus I couldn’t afford a 20 plate anyway so was looking around the 18/19 age so decided to go for a later 18 gen 1.

How does the noise on one of these such as a petrol S with PSE compare to the likes of a 987.2 also with PSE? Appreciate one is n/a and one turbo but any comparisons would be good?
