Apologies if this is a silly Q- i'm not entirely sure how this works...!

My S has now entered production, and the vehicle completion date per the Porsche system is showing as 28th Jan. Expected/Planned entry dealership date is 18th/25th Feb.

Assuming these dates are right- when would my car be registered? Obviously I would prefer a 22 plate on my car!

Just tell them not to register it before 1 Mar if you want a 22

Then I would suggest that you make it very clear to your OPC that you want it registered 1st of March so no mistakes are made.

Actually no guarantee it will reach your OPC before 1st March. That is touch and go I would say so you need to talk to your Sales Exec to say please only register after 1 st March

I think a lot of dealers would not find that an unreasonable request given the nearness to March.

By the time the OPC has done the PDI it will be March. But as others have said, just tell them to register it in March and get confirmation in writing. You will save a month's road tax too. ;)

And at £1910 for the first year that’s a tidy amount

You actually save one twelfth of the 2nd year rate of £475 i.e £39.5 as that is what gets refunded for an extra month when you sell and you still end up paying full £1910 when relieved in March

When i placed my order the sales rep actually brought this up. He said then that if the car arrived in Feb, he'd understand if I asked to delay registration. As it happened, the car came mid Jan so I wasn't fussed :-). It still shows as registered 2022 of course - and we'll probably transfer a private reg onto it anyway once we've finished swanking about in our 71 plate! :-)

My build date is the same as yours and the OPC have promised it will not be registered before 1/3/22.
