I'll never forgive Audi for going to diesel engines on the V6/longitudinal S models.
Oh I have no doubt the Macan S is miles ahead, however it is only the 2.0 Macan I have on order which does make the S5 seem tempting… 345hp over 265, V6 over 4-cylinder… hmm. I think if the Macan was arriving in the next month or so, I’d wait, but an estimate of “summer” which no build date yet when I was told February originally is a tough wait to endure when that S5 could be on the drive early next week!

It really is a 1st world problem but it kept me up into the late hours last night thinking through my options

2022 Porsche Macan S
2022 Audi S5 Sportback

Much more responsive and fun to drive.
Interesting. What would your choice be between the diesel S5 and the base petrol Macan?

What was the ride of the S5 like?

Every Audi S3/5 etc I have followed always seemed to be affected by any road imperfections and the ride looked hard and unforgiving.

Uncomfortable for passengers, too hard a ride.

Wife hated being passenger in it, hence its sold and macan s on order!

I have a 2018 S5 Sportback. Engine is really really good and responsive. The 8 speed torque converter is questionable and I do find the feedback of the drive a little numb/too clinical for me. Ride quality is pretty stiff and my wife hated it especially when I had to drive her to hospital to give birth! A 10min drive ended up being a 30min drive because I had to drive so slowly to reduce the bumpiness

Compared with the Macan S I had to test drive I think the S5 is quicker for sure but not massively

I wouldn't drive a diesel again, so no choice for me.

Do you want fun or comfort? the s5 would be more fun, macan more comfy
