They did tell me in October that likely delivery in May so I told them I would phone around other OPC’s before committing. Ten minutes later I received a phone call advising me they had “found” a Feb build slot!!
Make of that what you will…

I’m thinking of doing something similar to be honest, think I might spend some time today ringing around some other dealers and see what they can offer me. Failing that I think I’ll ring my OPC and tell them I’m thinking of cancelling and see if anything miraculously changes.

I ordered in late November Macan S and was told to expect 12-14 months for delivery. I appreciated their honesty actually and am in no rush. I’d rather get a car off of a fully staffed production line with no bits missing.

• Month order placed
• Variant ordered (Macan, S, GTS)
• OPC name/location
• Expected build/delivery date from OPC (as/when they have their 2022 allocations)

I had an S5 on order due for November/December delivery but kept looking up the gen 3 Macan, so called up my local OPC in September to see what the current order times were. I was initially quoted a June delivery (already sold my 718 Cayman at this point so couldn't bear the thought of slumming around in my runaround for 9 more months!!! So was prepared to stick with the S5) but then received a call from the sales manager who'd spotted my enquiry and decided to reach out as I've already bought two cars from them previously. As an existing customer, he said he could get me a Q1 2022 delivery, estimated for end of February/early March. I figured I could survive the winter in the runaround, so cancelled the S5 and decided to sit tight for a Macan.

Order & deposit placed October 6th, yet I have heard absolutely nothing since. The sales manager delegated another salesman to take over my order going forward, but he has been absolutely useless. Every email of mine goes ignored and not once have I received a reply from him. :x

Obviously it is now January and I still have no build allocation and zero inclination as to when it might be, so the estimation of a Q1 delivery is way off and I've been left totally in the dark. At this rate I suspect I will end up waiting until June after all, which is frustrating as I wouldn't have placed the order if I hadn't been given those false promises.

So for now I'm stuck in a Ford Ka with a mere 68bhp lugging me around. It was only supposed to be a runaround for a month or two, and I can't help but think of how I'd be enjoying the S5 right now if I hadn't cancelled that order!
