I agree on the cost point.

PMGs point was does fitting all season invalidate the warranty and your insurance even though they are safer than N rated summer tyres used in the winter.
Porsche GB no longer supply All Season tyres as an option to brand new cars. However some tyre brands still produce N-rated All Season like Michelin. I know someone who has them fitted to his Macan and they passed the 111 warranty inspection at his local OPC.

Were those Michelin all season N approved tyres the Latitude Tour HP as they are getting harder to find on sale and may no longer be in production? Very long life but not up to modern standards and do not satisfy German requirements for all-season use as no snowflake symbol.

A couple of points, I know I only have those silly 18" wheels but:
1. when I bought a new set there was no discernable premium for any manufacturer rating. When I had to replace one punctured rear the N rating cost £5 extra;
2. I wanted all seasons but they don't exist, N rated, with the speed rating required by a Gen 2 S, they seem to for the previous diesel though (not sure about Gen 1 Ss);
3. I have no aversion to buying "approved" tyres, at least not for my current model, that might change if I get a Gen 3 with 20" wheels, we'llhave to see, I am just just frustrated and irritated by all the "noise" surrounding the subject and I don't mean the road noise! :)

Yes they are 20" and on his SD. His first set exceeded 40,000 miles.

Pirelli currently have a 20" All Season on offer:

^^^ There, as I said they are only V rated for speed when Gen 2 S has to have a W rating, maybe Gen 3 might be higher again.....?

149 mph is the V-rated maximum speed. So perfectly legal in the UK.

W and Y rated Summer tyres are the O.E. fitment on all Macans.

Winter tyre speed ratings are V or W-rated that are approved by Porsche as long as N_ marked.

Steve, the screenshot above shows All Season tyres, if you can find me a set N rated and suitable for my 154mph S I will have them when my next change is due. I failed miserably to do so last February when buying my current set. Ta!

Don't worry when I have my V rated N approved Contintental winter 18 tyres on my Gen 2 S , the top warns me somewhere I have a lower usable top speed ;) ;)

Hi Neil, It's a about supply and demand. Other than a few GB "snow belt" areas, the majority of vehicles run on summer tyres here. Also most European true cold weather countries change from summer to winter tyres in the autumn, so stocks are often exhausted if you want to buy here in Feb. As you live near the Peak District / Yorkshire Moors areas then there may be some local tyre dealers that stock them, but doubtful in Macan N-rated.

The large mail order firms are often best source for All Season and Winter tyres. For example - Camskill, My Tyres [a division of the German company Delti.com], Protyre and in the example below, for your Macan, from Blackcircles:

It was February, possibly even before delivery when I briefly though tyres choice could be specified, that I looked at this hence my memory rules out knowing whether it was absence of supply or my overlooking that summer tyres had a higher speed rating than winter/all season rubber. Either way I know better now, but who knows how long I'll retain that! :lol:
