Hi,
I had a '57 Cayman for a couple of years about 10 years ago. Best car I ever had - it helped that the first owner was an enthusiast who had kept it alongside his Ferraris and Lambos in spotless garage and that the car looked absolutely as new. A couple of unplanned encounters with my local traffic police and the sad realisation that the car was a better car than I was a driver meant I sold it.
Then a couple of years ago my wife bought a '22 2.0 Macan which has been similarly amazing.
I have not really been following the market since then, but a friend mentioned that Taycans had fallen out of bed and I vaguely remembered being enticed by the dealer at the time we were buying the Macan. A search back of old emails revealed we'd gone as far as speccing a car for a quote, which came in a few hundred pounds shy of 100k . We could not afford it and were never really in the market for 2 cars but the test drive did make me seriously consider it for 5 seconds!
We are selling the Macan as madam wishes to rotate into a new-model Defender (don't ask...). I might consider a used Taycan now they have shed 2/3 of their value - and gamble on the battery pack lasting me at least a few years - but undecided on that.
Anyhoo, the Macan is listed in the classifieds and (from comparison with other cars for sale elsewhere) looks a great spec to me. She put a panoramic roof, Bose, extended leather, 14-way seats etc. etc. on the car.
Hopefully it is of interest to someone!
Hallo...
Especially when the former is towing the latter................................

That’s the dilemma… What are the odds on having a useable car for at least a few years, on the basis that if there was something fatal after that, you wouldn’t have too much to complain about…
It'll be a great shopping car, you'll be home well before the frozen stuff defrosts!Ronald Pickering wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2024 3:36 pmThat’s the dilemma… What are the odds on having a useable car for at least a few years, on the basis that if there was something fatal after that, you wouldn’t have too much to complain about…

I’m not sure if the “something fatal” refers to the Deffy or the Tincan ?Ronald Pickering wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2024 3:36 pmThat’s the dilemma… What are the odds on having a useable car for at least a few years, on the basis that if there was something fatal after that, you wouldn’t have too much to complain about…

Alongside (well actually in another country, but that’s a long story!) my wife’s 2021 Macan S, I run a 2019 I-Pace. Both the I-Pace and Taycan use LGES manufactured battery cell modules. Some of the cells produced by LGES in their Poland plant were incorrectly sealed giving rise to a potential battery thermal overload = fire! The risk is low but the safety aspect is essentially forcing LGES over time to cover the replacement of all battery packs in several thousand cars. So, by all means take on a Taycan at a bargain price and it’ll get a new battery in the coming year or two anyway.
Also there has been a lot of scaremongering over battery degradation but in the real world it’s not proving to be valid. There are owners racking up significant mileages and not detecting any significant loss of range.
