How does that compare to last year?

Our cars are with NFU too (and houses).Col Lamb wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 11:31 am My renewal with NFU arrived today, £650.
Looked at Aviva, £850 with more excess, no curtesy car, no breakdown cover and no legal aid,
I will not be going with them.
Spent 1/2 hour on other websites including the comparison ones and none come close to NFU, guess I’m sticking with them.
They do interest free monthly payments also.
And... they come out top of most reviews.
Renewal due April.

Aren’t they quite picky, preferring ‘rural’ postcodes?DJMCUK wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 12:51 pmOur cars are with NFU too (and houses).Col Lamb wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 11:31 am My renewal with NFU arrived today, £650.

Up by £202.
My postcode is not rural nor is it in a metropolis, I’m in central Lancashire.
Not an expensive postcode like the Ribble Valley or Lytham St Annes.

My NFU renewal in December went up from £777 to £1030 - about 32% increase. I live in a fairly rural area on the outskirts of a city, but it's still Essex innit?
I'd also had my old Freelander on the same NFU policy, but they wanted £518 for it this year, which is nuts as it's worth peanuts. I got that insured with LV= for £331.

One thing you can try if your spouse has a clean record is to get the quote in their name but you as the main driver.

Not in my case. I live in a rural area and NFU are consistantly the highest price premium for car and house insurance.Wing Commander wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 2:20 pmAren’t they quite picky, preferring ‘rural’ postcodes?DJMCUK wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 12:51 pmOur cars are with NFU too (and houses).Col Lamb wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 11:31 am My renewal with NFU arrived today, £650.

Insurance is a total lottery. All you can do is compare as many as possible. Making sure the cover required and Excess are consistant with your needs and then choosing a recognised company. LV and Axa usually the best VFM in my case.

I worked for AXA as a Contractor for three years, they were the worst company ever to deal with.SAC1 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 4:51 pmNot in my case. I vowed never ever to buy any of their products, they used to underwrite the AA Insurance out of the second floor of the Darlington office so I always try to check who is who with the “unknown” internet Insurance Companies.
