Try General Accident, an online arm of the Aviva group. I know there are a lot of variables involved with car insurance but I got quoted under £500 for a Macan GTS and I’ve got 3 points.Col Lamb wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 11:31 am My renewal with NFU arrived today, £650.
Looked at Aviva, £850 with more excess, no curtesy car, no breakdown cover and no legal aid,
I will not be going with them.
Spent 1/2 hour on other websites including the comparison ones and none come close to NFU, guess I’m sticking with them.

Wikipedia states for NFU ...Col Lamb wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 5:25 pmI worked for AXA as a Contractor for three years, they were the worst company ever to deal with.SAC1 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 4:51 pmNot in my case. Aren’t they quite picky, preferring ‘rural’ postcodes?
Insurance is a total lottery. All you can do is compare as many as possible. Making sure the cover required and Excess are consistant with your needs and then choosing a recognised company. LV and Axa usually the best VFM in my case.
I vowed never ever to buy any of their products, they used to underwrite the AA Insurance out of the second floor of the Darlington office so I always try to check who is who with the “unknown” internet Insurance Companies.
'The business reported losses of £1.04 billion for 2022. Commenting on the loss, finance director, Richard Morley, said, "a combination of factors affected our investment and General Insurance result in 2022 and these led to the Group reporting an overall loss".

NFU refused to quote my Macan as I didn't already have a policy with them. After lots of looking, I ended up with Admiral, started at £1386 which was around the same as Classicline that had it currently and the 911. But discounted by Admiral with multicar to around £1080 by adding my T6 van to it. That included Euro use and breakdown the same as Clasicline, a hefty lump though compared to my 997.2 that's under £400 a year with the same named drivers.

Apart from the drivers, is everything else the same with the 997.2, e.g. annual mileage, where parked, replacement cost, etc...rhinoman wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2024 10:09 am NFU refused to quote my Macan as I didn't already have a policy with them. Yeah not directly comparable as mileage is different, 12k for Macan, 5k for the 911 but both kept on the drive, 911 is worth around £6k more than the Macan though and owned it for 7 years, where the Macan we only got last July but I still wouldn't expect that amount of difference. The Macan is £500 more than the Q7 it replaced but that's likely just the increase in premiums in general.DJMCUK wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2024 1:32 pmApart from the drivers, is everything else the same with the 997.2, e.g. annual mileage, where parked, replacement cost, etc...rhinoman wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2024 10:09 am NFU refused to quote my Macan as I didn't already have a policy with them. Is your Macan a 23 or 15? Admiral wouldn’t cover my Macan this year because of the value, and it’s a Jan 72. I’d rather have stayed with them, they are easy to deal withrhinoman wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2024 2:55 pmYeah not directly comparable as mileage is different, 12k for Macan, 5k for the 911 but both kept on the drive, 911 is worth around £6k more than the Macan though and owned it for 7 years, where the Macan we only got last July but I still wouldn't expect that amount of difference. Mines a 2015 SD, bought in July for £29k with 41,000 miles and a Porsche history from Jardines.. Thats odd because Admiral do more expensive cars, a buddy has a 997.2 Turbo, that new Lotus and a few others on a multicar with them. The Lotus is `£70k and the 997.2 Turbo probably similar as its a rare low mileage manual.SanPorMGTS wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2024 4:52 pmIs your Macan a 23 or 15? I gave them a value of £74k, they had originally refused based on 78k, but they wouldn’t take 74k either.rhinoman wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2024 4:57 pmMines a 2015 SD, bought in July for £29k with 41,000 miles and a Porsche history from Jardines.. It’s really scuppered me, because I’m meant to be getting new GTS, and that is going to be 83k or so. Not sure anyone will want to insure that. I’ll research again when more time. Although someone said to me I can put a lower value down, and the difference between that value and what it’s actually worth, then just becomes my liability. I’d be fine with lowering the value on that basis, if it wasn’t deemed a bad thing to do etc..
How does it work with gap insurance and the valuation you give the vehicle insurer I wonder...SanPorMGTS wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2024 6:49 pmI gave them a value of £74k, they had originally refused based on 78k, but they wouldn’t take 74k either.rhinoman wrote: ↑Sun Feb 11, 2024 4:57 pmMines a 2015 SD, bought in July for £29k with 41,000 miles and a Porsche history from Jardines..
