Hello I will pick my secondhand gen 3 Macan S in a weeks time, its a MY22 in midnight blue.
My last Porsche, a Boxster S was new in 1999, absolutely loved it, still think its probably the best handling car I have ever driven, not expecting the Macan to be quite at that level given the weight and its an SUV but am looking forward to it being the best SUV to drive.
Had lots of different cars since then and tend to cycle through 4x4 SUV to 4x4 salons/estates and back rather too often to make any financial sense even when deploying advanced man maths.
Its SUV time again and I have finally given up on JLR due to reliability issues so last few cars have been BMW 330 Xdrive estate to Jaguar fPace S to Audi S5 to Range Rover 4.4 V8 Diesel to BMW 335D x drive estate to boring LR PHEV to Macan.
I live in the hills in the Welsh Marches and have generally needed a 4x4 in winter to get home, the last 1.5 miles is single track with step inclines, not really had proper winter weather for the last two years that warranted 4x4 but you never know.
Enjoyed the test drive cant wait to get in the car, have done quite a bit of research before committing.
Hopefully I can enjoy the information on the forum threads without needing to trouble the technical sections unlike the fPace and RR forums where I lived in the tech sections

Welcome.
Triumph Stag... that must have given enough 'technical issues' on its own to keep you busy.

Had one myself, Jesus, build quality non existing, but when on song the V8 had an intoxicating sound back in the day.EngineerMK wrote: ↑Fri May 05, 2023 4:43 pm Welcome.

Ah the Stag bought at the right price, engine strip down and check, timing chains and gears replaced, shell back to bare metal and resprayed back to orginal magenta, has a sports exhaust sounds lovely, I hadn't appreciated that the different firing order to the rover V8 make such a different note, its a manual with overdrive so will sit comfortably at 80mph.
A couple of my B too, new heritage shell, 4ltr V8, LSD, multilink rear suspension, bilstien coilovers at the front, wildwood brakes, MX5 gearbox conversion, 180-190bhp, 900kgs, its fun and the exhaust is verging on a bit loud with plenty of crackle and pop.
The Macan will be the sensible car ish.
Photos and detail spec to follow next week

Both look superb, I also had a ‘B’ , 1964 , iris blue with blue leather piped in blue, brings back some great memories.
My Stag was a white 1972 manual with overdrive. Engine was fine with no overheating, electrics were a nightmare tho…

Thanks all, love my classics but 3k miles a year only, a smile per mile tho'.
I am hoping the Macan brings back the smile to everyday driving, went down the sensible route and it was about as entertaining as digging over the poly tunnel, you feel worthy for having done it, it feels frightfully virtuous, but my goodness its dull, here's to enjoying the daily driver again
