Hi guys so I am new to the Macan world, have had a couple of Boxters, a 911S and more recently a 911 GT3 so love my Porsches, but recently had a little girl arrive in the world so looking to buy a more suitable 'family' car.
I see there are 3 versions of the GTS, 2016mk1 2020 mk2 and the new mk3.. Prices varying from around £40k for a high spec low mileage 2017, £60k for a good spec low mileage mk2 and £70+ for a mk3... The newer mk3 is prob a little out of my budget so my question is, how different are the mk1 to the mrk 2's, I get the bigger screen and the new tail light but is there actually a massive difference in the drive, reliabilty as £20k is a big jump for a new light and larger screen?
Thoughts on best colour, Crayon or Carmine?
Any advice much appreciated....

Welcome to our friendly forum!

My own choice would be a low mileage Carmine Gen I. I prefer the look of the first generation, especially the rear lights. They sound great too.
Good luck with your choice!
Cheers,

A warm welcome m30ndo
They are both great SUVs. It will be down to condition, mileage, service history, colour etc. Also how the interior and external appearnace appeals to you.
Then it will be the optional extras that are a must and then desireable to you. LED headlights came as standard on the Gen2 GTS.
As a multiple Porsche owner, you will also have your opinion on the value of a Porsche warranty. The transfer box is covered by Porshe for 7 years.
If they have the panoramic roof then do ensure their watertightness - check carpets and boot wells etc.
The Turbo is more powerful than the GTS.....just saying as you are a GT3 owner!

I think the most desirable feature of a used Porsche has to be a Porsche warranty after that it's VERY subjective but power output and equipment in general has crept up with each version.

Welcome to the Forum. I would always try and buy the newest car I could afford. So MK3 for me.m30ndo wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 7:53 am Hi guys so I am new to the Macan world, have had a couple of Boxters, a 911S and more recently a 911 GT3 so love my Porsches, but recently had a little girl arrive in the world so looking to buy a more suitable 'family' car.

But if the MK3 GTS is a stretch, then maybe consider an S. Most have good spec and probably same as the GTS. Plus they share the same 2.9TT V6 engine. Video on-line showing there is nothing in it speed wise.
The MK3 S is the same as the MK2 GTS. The MK3 GTS replaced the MK2 Turbo.
Can others comment; is the Gen 2 GTS not substantially quicker than the Gen 1? My only reference point is the same engine in an Audi RS4. I wouldn't call my Gen 1 GTS quick!
I think the engine sound is cr4p on my Gen 1 so surprised that the Gen 2 is 'worse'. Personally I'm not a fan of the haptics in the Gen 3 so I wouldn't consider it.
I'd opt for a nice spec Gen 2, but on the other hand what else could you do with £20k saved?
