Hi All, following on from my wiper issue (earlier thread) today I pull into the driveway and there is a very loud rattle coming from the passenger side exhaust tip.
After some driving, stopping, reversing its as if the butterfly value when closed rattles (loudly) but when open (under acceleration) does not rattle, when idle it starts to rattle but less.
Has anyone experienced this? Any clues on what could have caused this to happen and if there is a fix I could do / preform.
The cars booked in early Jan for service and the wipers to be looked at, guess if there is not quick fix I will be emailing them to add this onto the list!

Not sure if it's the same, but I had a really annoying rattle from my exhaust which sounded like exhaust valves. It ended up being the flexi pipe from the Cat back to the exhaust. There is a service bulletin for repair which was done under warranty.

Just to update on this, the cars been in for its service and M.O.T.
The rattle from the exhaust wont be fixed under warranty. The OPC can hear it and clearly agrees that its not 'normal' but as the value exequatur (i think thats what he called it) works its only a noise issue which Porsche don't cover under warranty. They have suggested that its the metal which expands in cold weather and when it heats up should stop. I don't agree with this as whist this issue started i did go on a long drive and it was still there. Surly if that's the case then it would be some design fault, but searching the net it does not seem to be a common problem. Not sure what i should now do as i dont want to spend circa £500 on the part and labour to have the rattling noise go away when it shouldn't be there in the first place.
Is there any suggestions on approach with this whilst the car is still with the OPC.

It’s not that it’s “just a noise” - it’s being caused by something that is out of place or worse, broken. The least they can do is investigate and tell you exactly what is rattling and why in case even more damage is caused later?
Doesn’t metal expand with heat rather than contract??
I wouldn’t be happy with their guesswork on this.

As a minimum they need to investigate the source of the noise, once known a decision can be made on whether it’s a warranty issue or not. Clearly something has changed to cause the noise. Looks like they are fobbing you off.

Hope fully the link works but this is today having collected the car from the OPC. The service carried out including the drains in the sunroof and MOT were fine but for them to think this is acceptable and not 'broken' just a 'noise' is not. I have emailed Porsche GB this afternoon and am awaiting a reply.
That does sound rather horrid.MacanPNeil wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 3:50 pm

Blimey I can not believe that the dealership can not find this or believe it is not an issue!?
I had something almost identical , as far as sounds goes anyway, with my BMW! It took me 5 minutes to find the issue (and I am completely incompetent when it comes to cars), which was there is a spring on one of the exhaust pipes valves (the valve was controlled by an actuator so this might be the potential issue) and this spring was almost corroded through and was not strong enough to hold the valve closed at start-up. It actually boke in half when I touched it. I replaced the spring at a cost of £3 and all good !!
I guess that they have checked the actuator / sprint so this may not be of any help.

They claim they checked the actuator and no fault was found in terms of it operating (opening and closing) and as far as the parts manufacturer is concerned it operates. They even claim to have made an 'adjustment' to help reduce the sound it was making. Apparently if it was in the initial 3 year warranty period it would be replaced FOC but as its under an approved used warranty it does not cover sound related issues.
Ive sent the video and email to Porsche GB in the hope that they will agree this is not normal!
